Sunday 5th June 2011

Our PICNIC ON THE GREEN between 12pm and 4pm, organised to coincide with the nationwide "Big Lunch", attracted approximately 150 residents of all ages. There were ball games for the young folk, facepainting for the children, cakes and home produce sales, and of course, the chance to enjoy eating and chatting as part of the East Broyle community. Few wanted to leave until the rain arrived after 4.30pm. Despite the weather, it was a great event, which we hope to repeat next year as part of celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee.

Saturday 25th November 2010

CHOCOLATE - Dawn Shrives, an EBRA member and proprietor of Le Salon du Chocolat at Stansted Park explained the history and production of chocolate, at this successful evening event held at the Jessie Younghusband School.
The plentiful and welcome supply of samples guaranteed a better understanding of the subject by the 50+ very appreciative audience. Our thanks to Dawn and to Sue Patrick, Headteacher at the school.

Saturday 2nd and 14th October 2010

THE BIG PLANTING - Three thousand daffodils and one thousand bluebells were planted on the edges of the green by an enthusiastic team of 25 residents. A further 6000 crocus were planted on the bank of the Canterbury Close green, with the help of pupils and staff from Jessie Younghusband School’s Environment Club as well as EBRA members. EBRA greatly appreciated the work done, both before and after the planting, by the very supportive and hard working team of District Council groundsmen and their manager, Mick Gore.

Sunday 18th July 2010

Our PICNIC ON THE GREEN between 12pm and 2pm deliberately coincided with the nationwide "Big Lunch" event and attracted about 250 residents of all ages. Our AGM at Chichester Baptist Church was attended by 126 members.
Excellent static presentations on display included Neighbourhood Watch, a splendid pictorial history of East Broyle, and members of the West Sussex Fire Service showed and explained the many ways of making homes safe.
As well as the formal AGM proceedings, the Chairman gave a thorough explanation of the deeply worrying plans (Local Development Framework or LDF) to build thousands of new houses around Chichester - including the area on Whitehouse Farm land and alongside Brandy Hole Copse, just next to East Broyle.
Unanimous support was given to a resolution that sort to advert that happening.
The large audience remained constant and interested throughout the meeting and participated in agreeing plans to improve the appearance at the entrance to Norwich Road.

Saturday 17th April 2010

Our big Estate wide GARAGE SALE was a resounding success with Members from 44 households empting their lofts, garages and homes of unwanted items, and even the children joined the fun and by selling off some of the toys they no longer needed.
Arrows and balloons were fixed on the road signs; the bunting, flags and more balloons decorated the gardens and the items for sale were displayed on lawns and in garages, the many visitors who arrived by car, or on foot.
Beds, cots, bicycles and chairs were seen atop cars and vans driving out of Norwich Road and also many toys, plants, clothes, books and much more besides were sold to the happy bargain hunters. The friendly atmosphere, with neighbours meeting each other and the brilliant sunny weather all helped to make this a very special day for residents - the day East Broyle came alive
