OCTOBER 2010 - First four dwellings handed over to buyers
We welcomed the long delayed use of this brownfield site to meet the much publicised demand for housing
We are disappointed at the cramped interior space and the failure to use the Homes and Communities Agency's standards.
We believed such a large site could allow better space standards per dwelling while still leaving a very large open space.
We are concerned at the on street parking proposed in phase 1 and ask why this is necessary with such a large site
We oppose a through route for road traffic, however we want the vehicles of residents of Phase 1 dwellings to have access to the eastern link road, as well as Summersdale Road, using number plate recognition technology or similar, so they do not add to traffic congestion in Chichester when heading East or South
We want Linden Homes (the developer) to pay for a free bus service between the site and the bus station for 5 years from the occupancy of the first dwelling
We did not support attempts to retain the old theatre as it would be an expensive "white elephant" (even the professionally well managed Festival Theatre requires £450,000 of Council Taxpayers money each year)
